When fuel costs increase, everything becomes more expensive—including groceries, diapers, and basic household essentials. Washingtonians are already paying $1.21/gallon in taxes and fees on gasoline. ESSB 5801 would increase this cost by raising the gas tax by 6 cents per gallon on July 1, 2025, then increase the tax annually by 2%. According to the Washington Research Council, this could increase the cost of gasoline by 9 cents per gallon by 2028. Please OPPOSE this damaging proposal! Please protect Washington families from further harmful, regressive tax policies like this forever-increasing gas tax surcharge.
